The linen

The linen

“I’m not talkin’ bout the linen,
And I don’t want to change your life -
But there’s a warm wind blowin’ the stars around,
And I’d really like to see you tonight.”
It’s weird how when you mishear something, it sticks with you.
When I first heard the lyrics to this song, that's what I heard.
Picturing linen on a clothes line, gently blowing in the warm breeze, stars in the sky appearing to
blow around too. I thought it was very poetic.
Now, no matter what, the original lyrics that were totally misheard and completely made up in
my head remain.
What else do I think I heard - that's really just some invention in my head?
Perception is weird.
What they sang...
"I'm not talking about moving in
And I don't want to change your life
But there's a warm wind blowing, the stars are out
And I'd really love to see you tonight"
- England Dan and John Ford Coley
